I am a traditionally educated doctoral level psychotherapist, registered nurse, and writer.
I am also a certified astrologer, as well as a tarot consultant.
Many people see the combination of these areas of study and practice as a relationship that must have irreconcilable differences! But in my 30-plus years of experience I have found them to be complementary.
As you probably do, I have always had an insatiable desire to know what this world is all about. I studied many traditional symbolic systems, such as literature, philosophy, science, religion, medicine and psychology. These systems gave me various frameworks in which to view existence. They were, and continue to be, fascinating and helpful.
But I still had questions. About thirty years ago I was going through an extremely difficult time personally. The psychologist I was seeing would periodically mention an astrologer that she thought might add some insight to my struggles. I knew next to nothing about astrology, and what I thought I knew turned out to be wrong.
But I made an appointment with John, who is a psychological astrologer. He was kind enough to spend several hours with me and it literally changed my life. I understood things about myself that I would never have reached any other way.
And here is the most important part: My session with John did not really solve anything. But it gave me the tools of self-knowledge to better understand my challenges and make conscious choices about how to deal with them.
I knew I had to add this system of knowledge to my traditional studies. So I took an intensive nine month course in astrology and have continued to practice and learn from it ever since. I also began to study tarot and realized that it too is a symbolic system with much to teach us.
So let's briefly discuss each of these systems, and how we can use each of them to assist you.
